26-year-old Michael Christian Green was sentenced to 12 months in federal prison in June for a crime he committed in March 2024, according to the Department of Justice While on duty as a police officer for the Pearl Police Department, Green arrested someone and forced them to lick urine off the floor of a holding cell while in custody.

Michael Green pleaded guilty to Deprivation of Civil Rights Under Color of Law in violation of Title 18 United States Code Section 242 on March 14 and was sentenced on June 12. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel Goff served as the prosecution for Green’s case, according to the press release.

If you or someone you know experiences any form of abuse by a law enforcement officer, there is a set procedure you should follow. Call the FBI hotline at 1-800-CALL-FBI or send an email to tips.fbi.gov. You can also call your local FBI field office.
