DOJ Settles Lawsuit Over Law Requiring Amish People to Electrically Connect to Municipal Sewage

The Justice Department announced on Jan. 31 that they had reached an agreement to resolve allegations that Sugar Grove Township, Pa., and the Sugar Grove Area Sewage Authority (SUGASA) violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA), according to a DOJ press release.

U.S. Virgin Islands Senior Officials Charged in Bribery, Money Laundering Case

Jenifer O’Neal, 53, former U.S. Virgin Islands Office of Management and Budget (VI-OMB) director, and Ray Martinez, 56, former U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) police commissioner, have been charged in an indictment unsealed on Jan. 10 with crimes related to a money laundering and bribery conspiracy, according to a DOJ press release.
