Possible Democrat Alternatives to Joe Biden for President in 2024

Biden seems almost unelectable at this point, so that begs the question who are the top candidates to replace him?

Here’s a list of five Democratic candidates to replace Joe Biden on the presidential ticket for 2024.

Gavin Newsom

Democratic governor of California Gavin Newsom is probably the favorite to replace Joe Biden this year, and is certainly the Dem frontrunner for 2028. California is a liberal utopia, and Newsom has followed the Democratic playbook during his time in office. High taxes on the mega-rich Hollywood elites, heavy spending on social programs, and lax border controls are some of the things we’ve seen from Newsom in recent years. Regardless of what Republicans think of California, he is popular with Democrats. And he is relatively young, especially compared to Biden.

Michelle Obama

The former First Lady doesn’t have any formal political experience, but as we saw with Donald Trump in 2016, that doesn’t seem to matter anymore. She has top-level name recognition, which makes her an immediate contender. Nevermind that she has recently come out and said that she is NOT a candidate. Things have a way of working out if the “powers that be” want them to.

Julian Castro

Julian Castro and his twin brother Joaquin, are big names in Texas politics. Before Julian was Housing and Urban Development Secretary under Obama, he was the mayor of San Antonio. Joaquin has represented Texas’ 20th Congressional District for more than 10 years. Democrats feel that Julian would help in their efforts to turn Texas blue, one of their top national priorities.

J.B. Pritzker

Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker is like a midwest Gavin Newsom. They follow the same playbook and both have a large, loyal following. Pritzker could boost Democrat popularity in the midwest, a section of the country often overlooked by Democrat candidates. Pritzker is also a billionaire, which helps on the expensive campaign trail. His family owns the Hyatt hotel chain.

Dark Horse Candidate: Kamala Harris

How would that be for a surprise? Sitting Vice President Kamala Harris could potentially leave the VP ticket and run as a candidate to be the first female US President. It would be an uphill battle for her, however. She has not made many fans during her almost four years in the White House as VP. She seems awkward when speaking publicly, and has virtually no achievements
as Vice-President.
