Dajahn McBean, aka “Jeezy Mula” or “Freeze,” 29, from Queens, New York; Karl Smith, aka “Pacavell,” 26, from Queens, New York; and Chelsey Harris, aka. “Ms. Chinn,” 23, from the Bronx, New York, were charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, stalking, and destroying records, according to the DOJ press release. The alleged conspiracy resulted in the injury of a rival gang member and the death of his girlfriend.
The incident occurred in December 2023, after McBean, Smith, and Harris, all associated with the Bloods street gang, allegedly conspired to stalk and kill gang member “Chinaman,” whom McBean had been arguing with on social media, according to the press release. McBean, who was already in federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since 2020, serving a 150-month prison sentence for other gang-related charges, communicated through text with Smith and Harris from inside prison using a contraband phone.
McBean is the leader of Real Ryte, a Bloods-associated street gang in Brooklyn, according to the October 2023 DOJ press release about him pleading guilty to racketeering and brandishing a firearm. McBean was also a rapper with numerous music videos on his YouTube channel and a social media influencer with 141K followers on Instagram. The music videos and posts from McBean via Real Ryte social media, showing him with large stacks of cash, led to federal investigations of bank fraud, money laundering and the acts of violence he spoke of, according to the 2020 Indictment against McBean and two other members of the Real Ryte gang.
After McBean’s alleged social media feud with Chinaman, he reportedly paid Smith and Harris to stalk Chinaman and lure him to different locations where he could be ambushed, according to the 2024 superseding indictment. Smith and Harris allegedly lured Chinaman to a nightclub in Queens on Dec. 24, 2023, where a gunman McBean allegedly arranged, shot at Chinaman in his car in a failed assassination attempt.
Two days later, on Dec. 26, 2023, Smith and Harris allegedly tried to lure Chinaman again to an open location, which resulted in an incident caught on surveillance video obtained by PIX11 News. Chinaman, and his girlfriend, Clarisa Burgos, were ambushed and shot in a car outside of a bar. Chinaman, the alleged intended target, was shot multiple times but survived the ambush and fled, driving two and a half miles to the 103 police precinct for help. His girlfriend, 28-year-old Clarisa Burgos, a mother of a young son, was shot in the head and did not survive the attack.
After the attack, prosecutors allege that McBean, Smith and Harris attempted to destroy evidence connected to the attack, according to the 2024 indictment. On Dec. 27, 2023, Harris allegedly sent a message to McBean and Smith, suggesting that they delete their correspondence before she attempted to delete that message. McBean then reportedly tried to destroy a contraband mobile phone on Dec. 29, 2023.
All three defendants face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted of the murder-for-hire conspiracy.
