Will Biden Really Be The Democratic Nominee in 2024?

He doesn’t have much to point to in the way of achievements. Rampant inflation during his first three years in office has subsided somewhat, and that has become a main Democrat talking point.

His lax border policy has resulted in millions of illegal immigrants flooding into the country, but Democrats don’t seem too concerned about it.

But the elephant in the room (no pun intended) is his age and mental fitness for duty.

Despite the proclamation earlier this week by Physician to the President Dr. Kevin O’Connor that Biden is mentally fit, the American people aren’t buying it.

The casual observer can listen to his slurred and sometimes incoherent speech and tell there is a problem.

Another key sign is that he continually forgets or misremembers things. One notable example was a few weeks ago when he referred to a (recent) conversation he had with French President Francois Mitterand, who died in 1996.

Biden’s age continues to be a concern to voters, and not just Republican voters. The President has a habit of tripping, stumbling, and falling down frequently. Let’s just say that stairs are not his friend.

Democrat pundits can’t defend Biden, so instead they attack former President Trump for also being old. Biden turns 82 in November while Trump turns 78 in June. It’s true that the two most recent presidents are close in age, but they could not be further apart in terms of energy.

This is a fact that, when called on it, even Democrats must admit. Trump seems to have the energy of a man half his age, closing deals and speaking for hours to enormous crowds, not to mention fitting a round of golf into his busy schedule.

Biden, meanwhile, is notorious for ending his days early. He was roundly mocked by Trump and even left-leaning media when he called a “lid” -vernacular for when a president is finished working for the day- before 10:00 am three times in one week.

Joe Biden doesn’t have a single policy victory to run on, so he is once again running on the “At least I’m not Trump” platform. He campaigns as little as possible so as to minimize the chances of him saying something off-script, outrageous, or just babbling incoherently.

Trump, on the other hand, is filling arenas and speaking to crowds for hours. He seems to have more energy now than he did four years ago as president.

In an election that will likely come down to the candidates’ age and vitality, the differences could not be more striking.
